“Though it is often difficult to truly understand another’s words, it is easy to see when something is in pain because everything is in pain.”

It is worth noting the level at which biomimicry influences our perceptions of death and beauty. A fresh flower will grow moldy unless it is hung upside down and dried for a few weeks. Parallel to the desire for self-preservation in photography comes an urgency to immortalize those who are near to us. It does not take much time with another to develop an admiration for the joyous times shared together. At the same time, one becomes a witness to the scars and bruises their bodies develop. Perhaps in the way we kiss our own cuts, a photo can remedy some of the subjects’ pain, in whatever form it exists.
